I built two multi-million dollar construction companies over the last 26 years specializing in new home construction, high-end design build remodeling, and disaster management/restoration.


During those years I experienced two-and-a-half economic recessions in the housing industry. In the late seventies, we survived double-digit prime lending rates. Can you imagine what a prime rate of 19% or 20% would do to your sales today?


In the mid eighties, oil embargos and the devaluation of foreign currencies made a dramatic impact on the housing industry. And then there was a half-recession that took place in the late 90’s that I’m still not sure what the cause of that was.


Throughout all of those valleys of economic times,

and real estate development.

You might think that those that are successful even in down markets have some super-secret system that makes them so much better than everyone else. Maybe they have better sales people? Maybe they do something no one else ever thought of before?


You might be surprised to learn that the answer lies
within a six inch area of real estate; your mind.


What do I mean by that? The big difference between those who do well in any economic climate, and those who falter whenever it gets hard is a personal belief system. A personal belief system is defined as an idea or concept you hold as truth.


As an example, you probably believe that if you throw a ball up in the air, gravity will eventually pull it back down. And why not, that belief is based on what you’ve experienced many times before.


Every time in the past you threw a ball up in the air,
it has came right back down. It is your truth.
It’s what you know, right?


For new home sellers you have personal beliefs about sales in general, your ability to sell homes, home buyers, your communities, Builders, Realtors®, lenders, and the housing marketplace in general.


These belief systems have been shaped by your personal experiences and your past. They are your truths as you know them now and effect all of the results of everything you do.

It was a change of belief that allowed a three hundred ton rocket to be launched into outer space. Rocket scientists challenged the belief system that the Law of Gravity meant we were earth bound or least close to it.


The “former truth” about gravity changed, and as a result they were able to create a system that allowed mankind to break the gravity barrier and travel to space .
